On the 8th April 2016, GANA Arquitectura was invited to take part in the workshop Revitarch, organized by the University of Applied Sciences of Nysa, in Poland. Of course, our answer was quite clear. Yes, we would like to be there.
For us, this workshop meant an amazing opportunity of meeting new colleagues from all around Europe, students from all over the world. People in some way connected to architecture, our great profession. Some experienced people whose background should be completely different to ours. Could be better this proposal?
Right now, we are writing these words because we had the opportunity of going to Poland. We enjoyed a few days there. And now, after this whole experience, we are able to share with you our conclusions.
First of all, we have to thank the whole team of the University UAS Nysa for their help, their effort, their passion and their hospitality. Congratulations, we know it was not easy to organize such a great event these days, but we have to say that it was an absolute success, both personal and professionally.
Professionally it was very interesting to spend a week analyzing the topic about the revitalization of degraded areas. Specially when these degraded areas were former fortifications full of historical meaning. It was a pleasure to learn so much about these buildings. It was great to listen carefully to our colleagues’ conferences about their different points of view about revitalization, as one of the most important ways of acting in the imminent future.
In this sense, we were very honoured of sharing with them our office philosophy and the situation in Malaga. An interesting approach to our city that let us understand the way they saw the place where we live. It is always a good way of realizing of the real situation. This moment when you get away from your reality in order to come back again with a new perspective.
To be honest, now we would truly recommend this open-minding exercise to everyone interested in keep learning about everything that surround us, even when we think that our routines are under control. Sometimes, you need to see your daily life through someone else’s eyes.
But above all, we would like to thank the students for their attitude. Probably, they don’t know how important is for us to see their energy and their way of understanding this profession. It was amazing to enjoy with them the work. We were delighted with their ideas, their communication skills and their ability to present their projects. They succeed under presure, what we totally admire.
Congratulations for your results. You are the main reason for this experience, and you made clear that you deserve everything.
We are very happy to have enjoyed this educational experience as professors. Hopefully the students enjoyed as much as we did. We have learned a lot. But one of the main things we understood there, is that students need us to become architects, good architects. That is the reason why we would like to say to our colleagues:
Please, don’t forget that the students are the future of architecture. Maybe the present reality is a little bit difficult, but it is up to them to change it and improve the situation. Let’s do our best to express our best feelings towards architecture. We are here because we love what we do. Let’s make them part of this passion. They are already special, we know, but it is our responsibility to teach them how to really be and behave as specials.
It has been very helpful for us to share this experience in Poland with a great team of professors from different universities. They were already working on this ideal way we should consider as the only one. They were an inspiration, a very good example of educational passion we had the opportunity to enjoy.
As a conclusion, we have to say that Poland automatically became a new home for us, full of nice people that we were pleased to meet.
Thank you all for being there and teach us so much.
Hopefully we will see each other again on the next workshop. Let’s keep enjoying architecture.
Best regards.
GANA Arquitectura’s Team.
